True Friendship

What is the meaning of true friendship? Here's my take on it..

I believe true friendship is being able to share your deepest, most intimate feelings with someone, a friend whom you can rely on to be the understanding listener. The friend who does not judge your actions, or your thoughts. The friend who can sync his / her thoughts with yours, who can sometimes practically finish your sentences for you. The friend who understands your fears and your joys. The friend you never get bored hanging out with.

How many of our friends can we truly call our true friends? I could count all of mine on the fingers of one hand. :) Sure, it's limited, but then, I'm a picky person. And it's ok, coz I'd rather have these few true friends than having a hundred acquantainces whom I can't connect with, whom I can only smile and say hello and exchange a few pleasantries with.

There is however, a catch. I believe true friends must be of the same gender. I've found out that 2 people of the opposite sex just can't keep things platonic, at least through some of my own experiences. So, to all my true friends out there, you know who you are, friends forever! :)

Necessary Comforts

What do you think are the 2 most important parts of a woman's life, that we just can't do without? My answer is chocolate, and shopping. I guess some women will say it's their other half, the person who makes them complete, the love of their life.. ooo, how romantic. But things aren't always lovey dovey between couples. Who do you turn to when you get into a fight with your partner? Sure, you can tell your best friend, or brother, or sister.. but they're not the ones going through it, it's me. Nobody really understands fully, because they can't. They've never been through the situation before, and they're not in our shoes either.

So I turn to my favourite comfort food in the world, chocolate. Yummy.. chocolate truffles, chocolate ice cream, white chocolate, dark chocolate, a box of Cadbury roses.. anything with the taste of chocolate will do. Hehehe..

My next addiction, shopping. Which woman doesn't instinctively like shopping? I personally think every female is born with a "built-in" love for shopping. Just spending a whole day in a huge shopping complex on a shopping spree can make me feel so satisfied. Especially if I wind up carrying a lot of paper bags full of new clothes or shoes for the day.

I know, maybe I only have chocolates and shopping as substitution coz I don't really have anyone to talk to. But I'm not the type who would pour out my heart to any stranger. So, they'll just have to do for now. :)

Computer games - practice for multitasking?

I started gaming in my uni life - that was about 5 years ago. Since then, I've only been able to master warcraft and tried a few FPS games like CS, QuakeIII and UT. So, before you guys presume that I'm a hardcore gamer, I'm gonna come clean and admit that I'm not. Since I started working, I haven't really had much time for gaming anymore. But recently, I've started picking up on games again. My latest and only addiction is Dota (I've always preferred strategy to FPS).

Anyway, I've always thought that games, although addictive, also enhances our thinking skills and multitasking skills. Take for example, playing a hero in Dota. You gotta micromanage your 4 skills, and think about what to buy next so that can let you get the upper hand against your enemies. When in combat, you gotta be aware of your life and mana all the time, and remember to heal to avoid from dying. Dying, ouch, that hurts. So you'll find yourself busy all the time either trying to get those damn enemies or trying to stay alive.

Anyway, enough of this rambling, I'm just so damn bored now.

The Pretenders

Have you ever met someone who puts on a fake smile ALL the freaking time? Someone who lets out a fake laugh, who sings fake praises, who puts on a fake walk? Well, I've met my fair share in my quarter of a century of my life in this world. But I've never had to WORK with one before. It's a real pain in the ass, really. Or rather, pain in the ears. Her voice is just so freaking piercing and high pitched. And her laughter is always dripping with sweet treacle and honey..

I'm sure some people, be they from the male or female species kinda thrive on this kind of fake praises, but I'm definitely not one of them. No way, I prefer the people who are the "what you see is what you get" kind. Anyway, my boss once told me that there are a lot of kinds of people in the world. And you get the first hand experience dealing with them at your workplace. I guess that's how we mature, by tolerating all these kind of weird people.

So to all the pretenders out there, "Fang xin". I will tolerate you, even though I don't like you. Haha..
